“Owning our story can be hard but not nearly as difficult as spending our lives running from it. Only when we are brave enough to explore the darkness will we discover the infinite power of our light.”― Brené Brown

Mission: Preventing and ending burnout for mothers and Christians on a mission.

Hi, dear one. I’m Sarita–an author, life coach, Enneagram 2 x 1 wing, missionary, wife, infertility warrior, and mother to one miracle boy. Motherhood and living on mission is hard and exhausting, especially when we have heavy expectations of ourselves. This is a safe place to land, shed the guilt, and seek support. Together we can change the narrative around what it means to be a missionary, a good mother, and how to live out our calling without burning out.

*My book Healing Her, a memoir of my life in Uganda will be released fall 2024

I am here as a helper and guide to walk alongside you as you heal from trauma, burnout, learn self-compassion, and live with joy in your purpose. I believe in the power of telling stories to heal our souls and have been writing a blog for fifteen years and now create content on IG. Through this community I’ll share newsletters and offerings with my authentic writing on topics of healing from trauma, faith, motherhood, missions, ending perfectionist burnout culture, and what it means to be human and have compassion for ourselves and others. I am passionate about seeing missionaries, women and mothers thrive and leave behind perfectionism and deny toxic mom culture, be more gentle with ourselves, and be encouraged in their life’s purpose.

Every week I write about how we can become more whole and thrive in our circumstances, as exhausting as they may be. (sign up for my newsletter to stay in touch- no spam! only good content and free e-books!)

I believe you are worthy of love and I want you to know that too.

It is only natural that as my life has transitioned off the field in Uganda after seven years, to coaching missionaries/aid workers, to days full of raising a toddler, going through infertility, with snippets of writing scattered in between building blocks and dirty dishes, my writing would reflect this transition. We do not prepare women for the ways their priorities and identities will shift when they hold their newborn in their arms and our toxic perfectionist motherhood culture shames mothers into feeling we are never doing a good enough job. I want to change that. Missions and motherhood are two catalysts in my life that have forced me to do my own inner work and taught me to love my truest self.

While I may write about many topics related to faith, self-compassion, and ending toxic burnout culture, my goal is to always be authentic to what I’m experiencing in the moment. What I learned when my son was little is that I wanted to be fully present for him, but also didn’t want to lose myself. What I’ve come to discover is that there are many similarities between missions and motherhood. Both require sacrifice, love, both transform you, in both you feel isolated at times, and in both burnout is extremely high. What I discovered in myself is that my dream is to be a writer. My limited time in between parenting the last few years has been focused on writing, editing, and working on publishing my books. My first Healing Her, I went to save Africa but it Ended Up Saving Me, is a memoir/christian living about my life in Uganda, how missions shaped me, what I learned about doing it well and not well and my deeper understanding of the goodness of God. It releases in May 2024. My most recent is Goodbye Good Girl: A Mother’s Guide to Being Good Enough, a personal narrative/self help offering women a path to regain their sacred selves after motherhood and leave behind perfectionism and burnout. I am working on getting them into your hands because I believe they will be so helpful on your journeys. I have struggled to know how to explain these transitions that have happened in my writing from my life in Uganda as a single missionary to my life as a working mother, but I am so thankful you have stuck with me.

The core of who I am and what I’m passionate remains the same. I want to serve you. I do that through free content on IG, writing free resources/e-books and books, and soon courses.
Please feel free to send me a note on what topics you’d like me to share on.

Please follow me on IG because that’s where I will be creating more helpful content. And check out my Amazon Storefront for all my favorite self-care products I use and stand by.

I’d love to connect on instagram or facebook . I create most of my helpful content on IG. I currently live in Puerto Rico with my husband, and miracle son, Atlas. I spend my days writing, healing, and navigating motherhood and work-life with a toddler. I’m passionate about seeing women set free in their purpose and ending the mom shaming around working motherhood.

Please pull up a chair, grab a hot cup of chai, and connect with me on this journey. Together we can make a more beautiful world.

And if you’d like to grab a spot on my calendar to do an interview on any above the above topics or invite me to do a speaking event please go here. For missionary or motherhood coaching see my coaching page.

Also I’ve just launched a new Substack called Becoming Her where I share more authentic, personal reflections, essays, poetry, on faith, mental health, and motherhood in a more intimate setting.
